Leading Web Acceleration Technology Provider Targets Former NetApp™ NetCache Customers and Offers Its JAGUAR® Web-caching Appliance as Replacement Product
CULVER CITY, Calif. (December 10, 2008) – ARA Networks, Inc., a leading provider of Web Acceleration and Internet Traffic Management (ITM) solutions, today announced an exclusive trade-in program offering its JAGUAR® Web-caching appliances as a direct replacement product for the EOL (end-of-life) NetApp™ NetCache products. NetApp’s Web-caching solution was acquired by Blue Coat in 2006 and will reach EOL on Dec. 11, 2009. Currently, ARA Networks serves numerous former NetApp customers in Korea, Japan, China and Southeast Asia, and will be extending the trade-in program to reach customers in North and South America.
“There is a gap in the marketplace for current NetCache customers looking for an alternative Web-caching solution,” said James Perfetti, president of ARA Networks, Inc. “While Blue Coat offers a heavy feature set appliance as a NetCache replacement, there is a sizeable segment of the market that does not require all the functionality or have the budget to implement such a solution – especially in today’s challenging economy. For those looking for a dedicated, cost-effective Web-caching solution, ARA Networks offers an attractive alternative with the JAGUAR.”
JAGUAR Series (5000/3000) Web-caching solutions serve as intermediaries between the client and origin content servers. Supporting various cache modes such as forward proxy, transparent proxy, reverse and hidden, they can reduce latency, network traffic, and origin-server workload to speed Web content delivery and improve the overall Web-browsing experience. The world-class JAGUAR technology provides 64-bit OS, up to 32GB of RAM memory, and up to 10TB of hard drive storage, allowing customers to optimize network bandwidth while providing the highest quality of user service.
The ARA Networks’ trade-in program will allow customers currently using NetCache to receive a trade-in credit toward the purchase of a new JAGUAR Web-caching appliance or participate in other incentive programs.
